The PNRD (Plant Non-coding RNA Database) database is the
updated version of PMRD. Non-coding RNA (ncRNA) is a functional RNA molecule
that is not translated into a protein, is highly abundant and functionally important. Since the PMRD is widely used as an important tool for microRNA (miRNA) study, we
consider it necessary to renew our background data and integrate as many kinds of RNA as possible to help biologists with their research in the RNA world!
Our database mainly focuses on plant species. As well as broadening the number
of miRNAs and species compared to the older version, we have made many improvements. We collected 25,739 non-coding RNA
records into our database, including lncRNAs, tRNA, rRNA, tasiRNA, snRNA and snoRNA, etc. We have provided many functional search and analysis tools: ncRNA keyword search,
literature-based function search, miRNA-target search and online analysis including new miRNA prediction toolkit, coding potential calculator toolkit, Blast tool and customized
UCSC genome browser. We think PNRD is a comprehensive analysis platform for plant ncRNA research.
